I help brands and people figure out what to say and how to say it.

It’s not just about finding the right words. It’s about getting the story right—whether it’s on a website, in a whitepaper, or between the covers of a book. To learn more about my experience, you can download my resume. Or, better yet, email me and let’s set up a time to chat.

Brand messaging strategy

Before you redesign that website or write that new corporate video script, you need to get your story straight. Through fun, interactive workshops, interviews, and competitive research, I’ll help you get there.

The deliverable is a brand book that serves a touchstone and guide for all of your marketing communications going forward, written in compelling, customer-facing language. It includes:

  • A review of what your competitors and peers are (and aren’t) saying
  • Your “spike”—the idea or benefit that captures the essence of your brand
  • Your messaging pillars—the supporting points and reasons to believe
  • Your brand voice—with examples and do’s and don’ts
  • A rich trove of language and headlines you can use throughout your communications—an incredible value

Drop me a line, and we’ll talk about what you need and how I can help.

Hi, I’m Jane

I’m a freelance copywriter, content writer, messaging strategist, and editor, based just outside of Boston. I started my career with full-time stints at Arnold and PARTNERS + Simons (now MERGE), and picked up a few awards along the way. I’ve got an MFA in creative writing from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, a BA in anthropology from Williams College, and a certificate of completion from the Boston Bartending School, in case you’d like a martini.

When I’m not helping companies and people tell their stories, I can be found devouring good books, hiking in the White Mountains, indoor rock climbing, practicing my French and Spanish, trying to master Gen Z slang while texting with my kids, or chilling on the couch watching 30 Rock with my very talented musician husband, Alastair Moock.

I’m also the author of  two novels, The Society of Shame (a Finalist for the Thurber Prize in American Humor in Writing) and Eden Lake; a memoir, Double Time: How I Survived–and Mostly Thrived–Through the First Three Years of Mothering Twins; numerous personal essays and humor pieces and a very eclectic Substack, Jane’s Calamity.
